1D60.20 - Double Cube Drop

Double Cube Drop Demo
Double Cube Drop Demo

Code: 1D60.20

Demo Title: Double Cube Drop

Subject: Projectile Motion

Description:
Using the double cube drop demonstration, we are able to launch one cube in a horizontal velocity and simply drop the other with no horizontal velocity. The cubes reach the ground at the same time as a result of the force G acting on both the same way.

Procedure:

  • Explain set up top audience (one cube is projected off by spring, the other cube simply falls - both are dropped at same time).
  • Release spring loaded trigger, making the cubes drop at the same time.
  • Explain reason for the cubes reaching ground at the same time because of the force G acting on each cube.
