Code: 8A10.15

Demo Title: Model of the Solar System

Subject: Solar System Mechanics

Using a 14cm diameter styrofoam sun and a ball point pen, we can model the size of the solar system to the 1 billionth scale.

Procedure:

  • Refer to the information on the overhead screen.
  • Walk to the model sun on top of the cabinet in the far end of the lecture hall.
  • Using a pen explain the scale of the earth in comparison to the model sun.
