Demo Title: Gravitational Waves


Subject: Gravitational Effects


Description:
Gravitational waves are simulated using a smoke ring cannon.


Procedure:

  • Review gravitational waves information on overhead projection with audience.
  • Fill garbage can with smoke and then hit the back rubber in order to make smoke rings move across the room.
  • Place the ellipses cutout on the front of the can and repeat the process.
  • The smoke rings will not change shape with the ellipsis shape on the front.
