Ballistic Pendulum Demo Set Up

Code: 1M40.41

Demo Title: Ballistic Pendulum

Subject: Conservation of Energy

Description:
Using the ballistic pendulum we are able to determine the initial velocity the ball is launched by measuring the height of the pendulum.

Procedure:

  • Explain what the ballistic pendulum is useful for (measuring initial velocity using height of the pendulum).
  • Load metal ball onto the launcher.
  • Release the ball by pressing the metal switch on the top of the pendulum.
  • Review what information we can determine by the results of launching the steel ball.
